There are rumors that the Packers are interested in a couple of middle linebackers; Dallas LB Kevin Burnett and Arizona LB Clark Haggans. In Burnett's 4 year career, he's started 4 games and has 4 career sacks. Haggans was a starter in Pittsburgh from 2003-2007, but a backup last season in Arizona. Both guys are backups; Burnett may never be anything more than a backup and Haggans days as a starter appear behind him ... I've got nothing against either of them, but I'm not sure what role the
The Green Bay Packers have set up a tentative visit Saturday for free agent linebacker Kevin Burnett, but it's possible the Dallas Cowboys veteran will have a new home before that ...
Maybe it was inevitable, but it would seem that Packers Lounge winning the Titletown Award for Best Packer Blog has already gone to the head of said blogs’ figurehead, one Alex Tallitsch. First there was his participation in, a description I use loosely, the latest Packers Lounge podcast. While his partner, Dale Z, attempts to [ ... ] ...

Unlike many PG readers, I like Ted Thompson’s overall approach to free agency and the draft.I like sitting out the first weekend and all of its silliness. That’s especially true this year — which was a very weak free agent class. Were the Packers going to pay $100m for Albert Haynesworth? No chance. I think [ ... ] ...
Agree with Andy on this item is from Peter King’s Monday Morning Quarterback, and I didn’t want to escape the week without commenting on it. It’s in regards to what King wrote about the Packers giving the coaches the opening weekend of free agency off, and more importantly, why:Weirdest thing I heard over the weekend: [ ... ] ...
My first thought was why bother visiting with a safety that I had never heard of who played on an awful defense last season. But Cleveland's defense wasn't too bad last season; Football Outsiders says their secondary was average in 2008 ... Also note the SS label at NFL.com attached to Mike Adams. When Bob Sanders was running the defense, the safeties were interchangeable. Atari Bigby and Nick Collins basically played the same role. But with Dom Capers as the defensive coordinator, I would
As thin as the Green Bay Packers are on the defensive line, it should never be forgotten that their priority in building a successful 3-4 defensive scheme is to find playmakers at the outside linebacker positions ...
I have to admit it, I don’t feel like doing the research. Can any of you out there tell me what free agent the Packers passed up or lost out on to last year that made a huge impact in their new team? I’m sure some must have, or this outcry over the lack of [ ... ] ...
